The procedure entry point_except_handler4_common could not be located in the dynamic link library msvcrt.dll
This error is caused by a 3rd party utility or applcation overwriting your msvcrt.dll with a different version.
For example if a windows vista version of this DLL was copied on to a windows XP computer you would probably get this error.
A solution to this problem can be found in Microsofts KB

If the problem appears after installing or upgrading the Mozilla Firefox browser to version 3.5 (or later) operating under Windows XP, the problem is due to a Windows Vista driver (dwmapi.dll) installed in a Windows XP OS at folder system32 by mistake (faulty install program).Delete that dwmapi.dll file to fix the problem.

My software is Windows 7 Ultimate, i’ve tried deleting “dwmapi.dll” but i need to have a permission of “Trusted Installer”, it’s like another user in my computer, but it’s just Windows protecting the file, i can’t delete it! Someone knows another way i can delete it?

i went to the “start” thing and then i clicked “run…” then i typed in “system32″ and i looked for the file “dwmapi.dll” and nothing was there -.-

thanks a lot fixed msvcrt.dll problem by deleting dwmapi.dll a lot of my programmes come up with this error when i tried to run them most of them still worked but they were minimized or would not run at all couldn’t delete msvcrt.dll so this was an awesome solution. Didn’t want to run system file checker because i have windows 8 transformation pack installed. your a legend keep up the good work thankyou very much.

I had installed Videopad recently as the video editing software (for editing my mtb video’s) and afterwards I probably updated Firefox, but I’m not quite sure. I got the message: ‘the procedure entrypoint …………….” Very disturbing.
Nevertheless I removed the dwmaoiu.dll file from the system 32 map and now Videopad runs very smoothly.
